Community Guidelines
Focus is a diverse community of business professionals who share expertise and experiences in an attempt to fundamentally be better at what they do and how they do it. We invite you to be part of the community but by doing so you agree to abide by the following guidelines (along with the Terms of Service), which ensure the site remains a platform for quality, respectful, and professional discussion.
Make Quality Contributions
The community rates all contributions and ultimately the highest-rated receive the most readership and strengthen the reputation of the author. Poorly rated contributions are de-emphasized and can be altogether removed by moderators. Quality has many meanings, but here are few suggestions:
- Good titles: Be as specific and contextual as possible
- Value-add: Be as unique as possible in your posts
- Specificity: Provide examples and proof points
- Reference: External links and references are welcomed
- Good grammar: Edit and spell check all of your posts
Do Not Solicit
Outright solicitation of products, services or job opportunities is strictly prohibited and any such posts will be immediately removed.
When offering a valuable, high-quality content, you can "indirectly" promote products or services. For example, instead of simply pasting a link to your blog, offer the essence of the blog post in your contribution here and link to it as a reference.
You are welcome to promote products and service more directly from your Focus public profile page.
Disclose Conflicts of Interest
Contributors who make explicit disclosures regarding perceived conflicts of interest gain trust with the Focus community. Example of disclosures in your community contribution should include:
- Current or past company affiliations
- Customer relationships
- Stock ownership
Respect Diversity of Thought
The community at large recognizes that new and different ideas are the life-blood for real business change. Please respect others' opinions, which includes not using libelous, racially offensive, off-topic, unprofessional or offensive language.
Ensure your Contributions are Lawful
Comply with all applicable local, state and federal regulations and laws. Content must be solely yours and not protected by any copyright, trademark or similar rights without proven permission from the owner. Participation on Focus is subject to the Terms and Conditions.
Reporting Violations and Potential Resolution
Focus relies on the community to identify and report offenses. If you find a violation, simply use the "flag" option available on all posts. Also you may report violations directly to Focus. Please be sure to include a relevant URL and an explanation.
While we hope all members abide, we are committed to enforcing the aforementioned rules. Focus reserves the right to take appropriate action, at our discretion, against violators of these guidelines or the Terms and Conditions.
