Apple announces ‘iPad’ touchscreen tablet
Introduction
Apple is great at developing fun and useful technology and with that in mind let's take a look at the new iPad.
Analysis
There are many uses for the iPad, from internet, videos, pictures, documents, communication, to using it as an alarm clock the iPad is a new product that will definitely shake up the industry. With so much versatility and functionality the iPad is a product that many will look forward to despite it fairly paramount price points.
The Apple iPad will be priced around $499 for the 16 GB model, $599 for a 32 GB, and about $699 for a 64 GB model with Wi-Fi only. Some models will be available in about 60 Days with other models appearing in about 90 days. If you want 3G it will cost an additional $130, which should be out in 90 days, making the most expensive model $829. Service plans from AT&T will charge $29.99 a month for "unlimited use" and $14.99 a month for a "limited" 250 MB plan. The good news is that Apple and AT&T seem so confident that there will be no contract requirements for these plans. The iPad weights in at about 1.5 pounds and has a compact 9.7-inch screen. Hardware specs include Apple's own 1GHz A4 processor, flash memory, and up to 64GB, making it far more powerful then any cell phone or PDA, however it does not appear to be the fastest product in the ultra portable tablet/netbook category.
