The Best Jobs In America
This graphic outlines a set of good job opportunities available for career-minded job seekers with the needed skills and education. Even during a recession, a handful of well-known companies have well-paying and rewarding positions open for the ambitious hard worker. The fields for these available jobs include healthcare, information technology, and education. In addition to rates of pay, these job areas are also rated according to other positive factors.
Career areas in the graphic are categorized according to salaries, job satisfaction, contribution to society, and job security. Other measured factors include current and projected future growth rates for each job title. The highest-paying positions tend to be specialized information technology job roles. The jobs with the most security and potential for growth tend to be in the healthcare field.
The information for these numbers was gathered from interviews, surveys, and published labor statistics. The highest-ranked jobs were classified as such largely due to details industry experts provided for this publication. Information that workers provided ranked their jobs according to stress levels and overall satisfaction with their quality of life. The career areas that earned the highest ratings for flexibility and job satisfaction included those in higher education and some business fields.

Can you please provide a link to your sources (cnnmoney.com and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics)?
I am in the wrong business; anesthesiologists making 400k a year....amazing
looking for a job when i grow up still in Middle School
Anesthesiologists easily make 400k+ a year, but don't forget about the decade of minimal or negative salary involved in achieving that practice. Plus, we have office fees and malpractice, which is typically about 50K. Wouldn't you want the person who makes sure you survive surgery to be well trained and compensated?
Wow, just wow, these are almost all 2-3 times the salary of the same job in the UK, amazing..... an anesthesiologist makes ~£100K here.
....BUT you get far less paid leave than we do.
this is from a Money Magazine article in 2009. If you click the full size link to the chart you can see the reference link at the bottom. I believe money magazine created the chart to go with the article when it was published last year.
Actuary didn't show up? They've been in the top 3 for a while now.
So glad I just started school to become a system engineer!
I don't know where these numbers came from but I'm a software dev and I make over 130k (listed as 116k for top end).
This is a prime example of what's wrong with this country, "Best Jobs in America".
These jobs are so wonderful, if you don't have a job in this group or are making this kind of money you're a loser.
Wonder how well any of these wonderful jobs would be without the so called unimportant, basic jobs performed by everyday workers? It would be interesting to see all these wonderful medical professionals, who make the big dollars, as well as all the other self important clowns, perform their duties without say, running water, provided by plumbers, water treatment plant workers, so on, and so forth. Or what about power plant workers or electricians, especially in our wonderful electronic world. Carpenters or other building trades persons who build the buildings that allow all these elite people to do their wonderful jobs. Do they get any credit for keeping society functioning? Hell no, in fact there are wonderful pro business groups like "Right to Work" and the "U.S. Chamber of Commerce", not to mention many others, that go out of their way to destroy the wages of such workers. The funny thing is most of those group members have the nerve to call themselves patriotic while they destroy and put out of work fellow U.S. citizens so some business can post bigger profits.
I tend to think the education sales people are at it again here. An education is a wonderful thing, but when the only reason for it is monetary, that discredits the whole purpose of it.
The bottom line is all jobs have an impact on our world and unfortunately quite a few that are truly more important than others are discredited and made to look insignificant when they're anything but. Vanity is a wonderful thing isn't it?
I believe some of the most important jobs are given little or no credit. Teachers are rarely considered as performing the most important job in the world. It is from the teacher that doctors, nurses, researchers and all the highest considered jobs are made. A teacher builds the foundation of a person to become great in the world, yet gets the least credit, pay and respect if any. I think the teaching career should be rated top, paid highest and be given the highest priority. I am not a teacher, used to be one, and now always think about them.
any job is as good as another. all depends on how you look at it.
thanks for sharing, yeah but emergency room physician, is good too.
Hotel sales and catering jobs are great. I work in nice surroundings, can work in any city, and advace quick. I started with Hilon at 43K plus bonus, earned over 100K plus bonus. Once you have experience, other hotels try to recruit you with higher salaries, bonus, and perks. Good places to start are ecornell ahla.com or aprinda.com Good Luck

Hmmm, That's weird. I thought I would see at least one oil business-related job in this list.
America? I guess you mean USA.
Better put an asterisk next to all those health care providers' salaries. ObamaCare is going to do some trimming. With no private sector competition he can lower the salaries to whatever he (or some panel of experts) deems "fair".
