Soul Crushing Cubicles
Across the globe it is fascinating to observe the acceptable working conditions that employees do their best not to complain about. With a majority of full and part-time workers working in cubicles, the International Facility Management Association states that 50 percent of workers say their bathroom is larger than their cubicle at work. Additionally, 23 percent say their closet and kitchen pantry are bigger. Add on top of that mounds of paper work and workers have one depressing day at work. These are 16 situations you do not want to find yourself in.

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...
That last one looks like Antes, Ahora, y Siempre, Colegio (if you know, you know, and if you don't, never mind).
Actually, the fourth picture is a scene from the movie "TRON".
Everything past the first couple of rows is a matte painting. Though, I must admit I spent a number of years working at a company where the view over the 'cubicle farm' was not that much different... Not all that bad an environment though, the people there made up for it.
The 4th pic, with the blue sea of cubicles, looks the most demoralizing to me.
Some of these guys could probably use some desktop clearing advice and tips like the following..

I don't have much room to talk though, my own workplace is like a big giant mess!
Correction: The first picture is from the Movie "Office Space"
reminds me of the sweatshops I saw in SF during the dotcom days... but those were much worse... people in hallways and such.. many places didnt have walls or cubicles.. but they always seemed to have a nice lobby though.. the bosses probably have those living rooms that never get used... just for show you know...
ACS is the contractor we use for repairs in my work building. The tech guys make you call corporate for ANY small change in the invoice, then instantly i'm dealing with non-english people when there's a dude who speaks it perfectly right in front of me!
Most look like places I have worked. They should have included a shot of a standard cube with gobs of equipment in it instead of just paper. I had an analyzer at one job on a cart that had to be pulled into the hall so I could get to my desk before bringing it back in.
Ohh, I don't know about that one Milton. The squirrels were married, not merry. I'll make sure that you get a copy of the memo, m'kay?
While working at Ford Aeronutronic in the 80's, I had two nasty desks to alternate between (things eventually got much better). One was in a cramped bullpen surrounded by heavy smokers. The other one, for a while, was in a laboratory with a Thermotron temperature chamber 4 feet behind me blowing hot air and noise (just like being in a big truck's engine compartment). These experiences help develop character, thick skin, and odd senses of humor.
Some of these prank pics are hilarious. Cube wars are great.
The first picture is from that movie Tootsie.
