Why Your Company Needs Paid Sick Days
Every year the U.S. economy loses $180 billion in productivity through staff coming to work sick. When an employee is unable to take a sick day, they risk infecting coworkers and customers, are inefficient and take longer to recover. Our friends from MedicalInsurance.org show us today how paid sick days actually benefit employees and their families, employers, the economy and society at large and why it makes sense to make them mandatory.

Dear If_Only, how can people come to work if they are genuinely sick? In addition, this sick-days system works well in many developed countries.
If only we don't have the people who are abusive to systems like such. That day will never be here, maybe in our sweet dreams.
Dear editors - First, I think companies should have paid sick leave because good moral means good productivity. I guess i am missing something?
Your initial graph appears to be inappropriate. You say it costs as little as $0.08 per employee per hour, BUT your graph has the "average" cost at $0.23/hr. Well if you multiply that out; lets say 2000 hours worked a year; the real cost is $ 460/year. (In today's world that is not much of a health care package....) BUT your graph shows an "upward trend" for a cost of $255/year. So it would appear by using the numbers you have sited, it is cheaper not to have health insurance? Is that what you meant to show?
Do you need to squew the data? Confused...
Also, it says the cost of replacing an employee is 25% of their salary, then it says right below it the cost of replacing an employee is $25,000...
All employees make $100k?
Where do I sign up?
If only people used their sick time when they were sick this would be ok. Give people sick time and they will come to work sick so they can use sick time for extra vacation days.
