Is Tagged.com the Untapped Social Network for Marketers?
If you ask any average marketer to name the social networks they know with over 100 million users, they would point to Facebook, Twitter, possibly LinkedIn, and then may go after some of the networks that are popular outside of the US such as Bebo, Orkut, and Hi5.
Few would mention Tagged.com. That's a huge mistake.
As one of the top 10 social networks according to Hitwise, its sheer size should be enough for people to take notice. However, it's the concept behind Tagged that makes it special.
Rather than following the connection integration philosophy of most social networks, Tagged focuses on "social discovery". The goal is not to connect to people that users know but rather to find new people with which to network. It's a subtle difference, but one that makes Tagged ripe for aggressive networkers and marketers.
