At SuiteWorld 2011, NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson revealed a variety of impressive announcements and partnerships for his organization. Here's my picks for the top 5 most compelling announcements of the day:
1. Partnership with Accenture: Perhaps the biggest announcement was the partnership with global systems integrator, Accenture. This is a huge win for NetSuite as an Accenture partnership truly solidifies their image as an enterprise SaaS offering. Along with this partnership it was announced that Qualcomm is the first organization to sign on for a NetSuite OneWorld implementation and Accenture integration.
2. Groupon & Going Global: Groupon, the world's fastest growing startup, perhaps in history, has selected NetSuite as their core ERP & financials provider. The most impressive part about this announcement is that they're expected to roll out this solution in 26 different countries in 3 months. Considering that many on premise solutions take upwards of 1-2 years to fully implement, this rapid go-live time is a huge win for both NetSuite and SaaS ERP applications as a whole.
3. NetSuite Unlimited: Nelson announced the release of NetSuite Unlimited, "the first and only cloud-business suite designed specifically for the ERP needs of the world's largest and fastest-growing companies." The premise of this offer is unlimited functionality, unlimited customization, unlimited data & file storage and unlimited integration for a price point of above $1 million per year. Expensive, sure. But not when you compare the offering to other solutions of the same capacity.
4. It's Yammer Time: Social is everywhere, and rather than avoiding it, NetSuite is embracing it. They've partnered with Yammer, one of the more well known enterprise social networking apps, so that mission-critical data and information can be socialized and acted upon immediately. Plus, all activities will take place within a system of record so there's no issues with keeping track of the interactions. A great opportunity for NetSuite, and an even bigger win for Yammer as this partnership solidifies the benefits of enterprise social networking.
5. Exadata for Everyone: It's not a secret that NetSuite is built off of powerful Oracle database & middleware. This morning, Nelson & Oracle's President, Mark Hurd, jointly announced the roll out of Oracle's Exadata product to NetSuite customers thus allowing extreme performance at an affordable price point. Herd boasted that Exadata offers 70 times the performance of the existing technology. Meaning, if your report takes 70 minutes to process, with Exadata it will take 1 minute to process. If the cost of your report is normally $7 million, expect it to cost $100 thousand with Exadata.
Overall, NetSuite has made quite a few game changing announcements. It will be interesting to see how other competitors in the ERP Cloud space react.
