US Department of Labor Releases an iPhone App
- Recommended by:
- Ramiro Rodriguez
Following in the footsteps of several government agencies, the US Department of Labor recently released an iPhone app designed to, "help employees understand and stand up for their rights when employers have denied their hard-earned pay."
Released in early May, the application is a smart time sheet that will calculate and keep track of regular pay, breaks and overtime pay. It calculates pay based off of a simple meter, or there's a way to manually enter time if needed. The app also offers a handy feature that will allow you to email the report to wherever you need it to go, and provides phone numbers and web addresses to the US Wage and Hour Division in the event you need to report a complaint. There's talk of future updates that will include the ability to calculate other types of pay including commissions, bonuses, tips and holiday pay. The Department of Labor will also consider releasing the app onto other smartphone platforms like Android and Blackberry.
