Why is "job hopping" so bad?

The acceptability of job hopping depends on the industry/job role. If it is a new technology and rapidly evolving job hopping can be a good sign. If the job requires significant knowledge of regulation and corporate policy then perhaps job hopping is not so good.

I managed a large international dispersed team of 250 IT engineers and developers. Prior to that I'd been given management training, project management training and was also encouraged to take professional qualification examinations.
