Anthony H. Catanach Jr. is a professor in the School of Business at Villanova University, as well as the Cary M. Maguire Fellow at the American College Center for Ethics in Financial Services. His consulting and research interests relate primarily to business risk management, financial statement analysis, and performance management issues. He has previously served on the faculties of the University of Virginia and INSEAD. He obtained his undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of New Mexico and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University. Dr. Catanach has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1980 and a Certified Management Accountant since 1991.
His professional experience includes five years as an audit manager with KPMG and six years in the financial services industry. While in public accounting, he provided auditing, tax, and consulting services to the banking and insurance industries. Subsequently, Dr. Catanach worked as a funds management officer, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer for several large bank holding companies, where he specialized in merger and acquisition transactions. Currently, he consults actively for several major investment banking firms, as well as numerous private equity and hedge funds, on a variety of global financial reporting issues. He continues to deliver executive programs for numerous professional, private, and public organizations in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and serves as a national instructor for several global professional services firms.
Dr. Catanach also has received numerous awards for his publication, teaching, and curriculum innovation efforts. He has authored numerous articles on a variety of accounting, finance, and management issues.
