A journalist, blogger, and consultant on media and gaming, Mr. Michalski has his finger on the pulse of the poker community. His highly acclaimed blog, Pokerati, covers a wide range of poker issues, with a focus on law and politics and their impact on recreational and professional players alike. Pokerati was a finalist in 2009 and 2010 for best poker blog in the Bluff magazine Readers Choice Awards, and the podcast he appeared on, The Poker Beat, was the winner for best poker podcast both those years.
Mr. Michalski has been covering the World Series of Poker since 2004, was the first ever official blogger for the WSOP in 2005, and worked briefly for PartyPoker in 2006 before the UIGEA ended his role as Chief Editor of PokerBlog.com.
Originally from Texas, he also has helped political organizations pushing federal and state legislation in Texas -- meeting with representatives and testifying before committees to educate politicians about people who play poker, as well as those who make their livings from it off the table.
