Daniel Wong

Daniel Wong, Ph.D. (Stanford), is President of Daniel Wireless LLC, a company that provides consulting and training in wireless, networking and software.

Daniel has been in wireless for 18 years and has observed the vast changes in the mobile landscape, from the pre-GSM and pre-WiFi days to systems like WiMaX and LTE that are IP-based without even a circuit switched part to provide voice services! The drastic evolution of the mobile network has gone hand-in-hand with drastic changes in wireless business models, and Daniel enjoys thinking about present and future directions and trends in the world of wireless and mobility. Along the way, these thoughts have resulted in consulting projects, the first special issue on vehicular communications in an IEEE publication, etc.

Daniel was a member of IEEE Communication Society's Practice Analysis Task Force that created the original delineation of topics for IEEE's wireless certification program. He teaches short courses for wireless engineers to prepare for the certification exam.

Daniel has written dozens of research papers, written five book chapters and one book “Wireless Internet Communications”, published in December 2004 by Artech House. A new book on wireless will be published later in 2011 by Wiley. Daniel is also a co-editor and co-author of IEEE’s “Wireless Engineering Book of Knowledge” (WEBOK). He received the G. David Forney, Jr. Prize from Princeton University, the Telcordia Technologies CEO Award in 2002, and is listed in various "Who's Who" publications.
