I also agree with Luke and with Christopher's assessment that the key element is Google's SEO punch. Also, 2012 is the year that Google+ Pages come into their own - and the SEO impact that comes from it will be significant. more

I thought Google+ was for individuals not businesses?

Google+ was initially open only to individuals, but in November Google+ added Pages for businesses and groups. Great question! Google+ pages are not nearly as rich as Facebook pages....yet. There are still a lot of things that Google is not allowing that are allowed on Facebook pages (for better or worse). It's evolving, but I wouldn't burn your Facebook page yet.
