Responsible for providing state-of-the-art technology solutions for the business.
Accountable for the IT Infrastructure Strategy in the Latin America Region (LAR),
including Miami (LAR Headquarters).
Standardized process for equipment purchases. Migrated 1400 PC´s. Established an
effective operating model with different HP Partners and other stakeholders.
Managed a team of 5 managers and 30 employees staff. Responsibilities included SAP
Support for Canada and Latin America, Outsourcing and Business Solutions
(development), in addition to IT Infrastructure and Legacy Applications Support.
Designed and executed a transition plan (Legacy to SAP) for employees. Partnered with
several global teams, both HP and external, to establish a robust support model, for up to
6 different time zones. Accountable for the IT Y2K Transition Program.
Supported Legacy Applications. Outsourced non-strategic operations to 3rd party vendors.
Designed and executed several Business Partner projects for Logistics Service Providers
and Contract Manufacturers. Implemented some breakthrough technologies/services not
available at the region previously (i.e. Remote Access, Videoconference). Forged
strategic relationship with vendors for PC´s support, telecommunications carriers, etc.
ANIXTER (07/1994-05/1996)
Account Executive - Responsibilities encompassed Sales and Channels Development
(Systems Integrators, Distributors). Started business operations at 7 states in Mexico.
Developed several Systems Integrators and Global Accounts. Conducted marketing
programs (Road Shows, Product Certifications).

Telecommunications/Information Systems Supervisor (10/1989-06/1994)
Participated in the implementation of MFG-PRO (Progress) Manufacturing/Materials
Management Solution. Managed first videoconference implementation in Mexico using
Digital Integrated Network from a local carrier. First AT&T Definity DS1 DID trunk
card applications (beta for LAR).
Supporting manufacturing operations in Monterrey (Mexico) and a distribution center
located in Texas. Achievements: Configured Systems for Inventory Management,
Procurement, etc., hosted them within Data Centers located remotely (NA). Established
support models. First manufacturing facility using Structured Cabling System. First
implementation of an AT&T Definity PBX in LAR.

I wouldn´t say it has to be one or the other (more or less human). In my opinion technology does not replace humans, but (at least professionally speaking), we humans can´t live without technology.
