In 1998, I have been part of a very nice experience with Belgacom, Citibank & Logica calle SPI (Simple Payment Interface). From that moment, the dream came true and we were doing eCommerce like Amazon.
But very soon, we discover that online transactions was not that sure and that our customer were loosing money from charge-back.
It was time to look closer on this aspect of the eCommerce and to create tools for our customers.
From 2002, I have been an expert in Online Fraud Screening Methodology.
I provide Training & Tools to website manager who launch/run an eCommerce activity.

This should be one of the primary concerns of any business conducting online transactions. The best way to combat fraud is to use software based address verification in conjunction with manual order review and card verification.
