He has served as Char of the NJ League of Municipalities Economic Development Task Force, President of the NJ Chapter of the National Brownsfield Association, and as mayor of NJ's eighth-largest municipality, during its greatest period of economic growth, helping the city achieve the distinction of being "One of the Best Places to Live in America", as listed by Money magazine.
Called a "national hero" by The New York Times and a "man of action" by TIME magazine for leadership during America's Anthrax Crisis. He was also featured on "Good Morning America." He was also commissioned an Infantry Lieutenant, awarded the Army Commendation medal and the Silver Wings of paratrooper.
