John’s career in learning development spans more than 15 years and includes such high-profile organizations as McDonald’s Corporation, Boston Market, Panera Bread and Checkers Drive-In Restaurants. He has held several Executive Operational positions, most prominently running Stadium Hospitality operations.
As the only Master Trainer for McDonalds Corporate University in suburban Chicago, John led a team of 15 domestic and international “professors” who annually delivered curricula to more than 5,000 managers, 1,500 directors and 400 executives from around the world who worked for the $29 billion global fast-food chain, which employs 400,000 in more than 31,000 locations worldwide.
John’s tenure at McDonald’s also included serving as Director of Learning and Development for Boston Market, an upscale chain of fast-casual restaurants then owned by the McDonald’s Corp. that operated more than 500 restaurants in 28 U.S. states, Canada and Australia. (It was acquired by Sun Capital Partners, a U.S. private equity firm that also owns the 540-restaurant Captain D's Seafood Kitchen and The Limited clothing store chain.) While at Boston Market, John created corporate-wide programs for management development that relied on both instructor-led training and self-directed training.
John’s other corporate roles include serving as Director of Training for Ameristar Casinos, Inc., a $1.3 billion, NASDAQ-listed company that employs more than 7,000 and operates eight casino-resorts in seven U.S. cities, including in four of the country’s Top 30 markets. He also worked as Director of Learning-Franchise for Panera Bread LLC, a “quick casual” chain of bakery-café restaurants with more than 1,388 locations in 40 U.S. states and Canada; and as Director of Learning & Performance for Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc., which operates 815 Checkers and Rally's fast-food restaurants in 28 states, Washington, D.C. and American Samoa.
John is a charismatic and compelling educator/trainer and presenter/facilitator who has addressed audiences as large as 3,000 and as small as six.
John attended the University of Western, Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada and is currently working on his MBA from Cardean University. John lives in Las Vegas with his family and is a permanent resident of the USA.
