Before SlideShare I was a Principal at Uzanto Consulting, where I helped create MindCanvas, a novel survey platform that used game mechanics to elicit feedback from participants.
I was a Software Engineer at Commerce One, where I was involved in the development of MarketSite, an ecommerce exchange platform. Before that I was a software engineer at Advanced Visual Systems, working applying computer graphics to the problems of scientific visualization.

What are the advantages of buying cloud infrastructure directly rather than indirectly through companies like AppFog, PiCloud, SimpleWorker, etc?
Exactly. FWIW I think *most* early-stage startups or should use PAAS unless they are doing something exotic. Same goes for most bespoke software (if it can be on a public cloud). Building your own infrastructure is just as much work in the cloud as it ... more
