Leigh's most recent book--The 7 Hidden Reasons Employees Leave: How to Recognize the Subtle Signs and Act Before It’s Too Late, was selected as one of the top 30 business books of 2005.
He has consulted with multinational companies and spoken at human resource and leadership conferences in China, Poland, Argentina, Paraguay, Canada, and Malaysia. Leigh has been interviewed on National Public Radio, and widely quoted in publications such as Business Week, The Harvard Management Update, and the Associated Press as an expert on employee retention. What do you think about when a job candidate tells you they quit without having a new job lined up?
Nothing wrong with getting out of a bad situation. I advise employers to track their "quit rate"--the percentage of employees who leave without having another job. Companies with high quit rates--usually above 10% in a bad economy, tend to have culture or bad-manager issues that ... more
