yes it is.
it's not only the processor, but also the motherboard.
It would certainly consume a bit more, but where you gain is from unattended remote access where the computer is mostly off.

Also, if you need to host your own cloud facility, in premise, you can try a few Open Source solutions that are amazon compatible, namely Eucalyptus, and OpenQRM if you need datacenter management as a whole. more

Any users of Wireshark willing to give a quick review?

Wireshark is good for analysing network traffic, but by design it is unfit for monitoring.
One has to be somewhat versed in networking protocols to understand the data being shown.
For monitoring purposes, you could use snmp and/or agent based NMS, including:
ZenOSS
OpenNMS
Zabbix
OpenView
