Is a CRM-solution more than just the software?

In simplistic terms the CRM is the software and middle ware. As Simon mentioned it is really a process an outline. Identify what you want captured is key as well as the ease of use to those on the front end.

CRM, ERP - What's the difference?

Bottom line - ERP formerly called MRP is about bringing stand alone databases together. From a financial perspective it would be bringing Accounting & Finance and pulling in Payroll. More of a back end vs. CRM has back end but with front end visuals.
