Robert Gordon

Robert M. Gordon has practiced in the Federal corporate income tax area for more than 25 years, concentrating on domestic and international tax planning, including structuring and implementing M&A transactions. Before joining True Partners, Mr. Gordon spent 20 years in various in-house tax counsel roles at a major multinational corporation, culminating as Assistant General Tax Counsel and Head of Tax for the company’s US-based manufacturing and retail division.

Mr. Gordon’s consulting practice involves all aspects of domestic and international corporate and partnership matters, including:

• Corporate simplification
• Post-merger integration and restructuring
• Tax risk assessments, including reviews of transactions and uncertain tax positions
• Structuring complex M&A and joint venture transactions to optimize tax results
• Transfer pricing
• Tax planning for environmental spending
• Captive insurance
• Taxation of alternative energy and oil & gas

Mr. Gordon has written numerous articles and made numerous presentations to corporate and professional groups. He is an active member of the American Bar Association Tax Section, where he is an Officer of the Corporate Tax Committee and served as Chair of the Energy and Environmental Taxes Committee. He is also a member of the Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations, as well as a former active member of Tax Executives Institute (Chicago Chapter).

Mr. Gordon received a Bachelor of Arts degree (with Honors) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Northwestern University Law Review. He is an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University, Chicago, teaching tax classes in the Graduate School of Business.
