What responsibilities does my employer have if I'm laid off?

No, not as a contractor. As a contractor, it's your responsibility to pay your own taxes, including unemployment tax. I suggest you go to the Dept of Labor or the IRS website and read about being a contractor; it's nothing like being an employee. more

What is the current national minimum wage for people under 20?

Under federal law an employer may pay newly hired employees under the age of 20 less than minimum wage, but no less than $4.25 per hour, but only for the first 90 consecutive calendar days of employment.

Can employers require that their employees receive their pay by direct deposit?

It depends on the state. And if you don't have a bank account, then they need to provide an option for that such as a live check or check card. more

I've blasted and I've been blasted. I blasted only when it was free. The times I've received blasted resumes, well some were appropriate and some were not. I remember receiving a resume for a crane operator and our business has no such job. more

Are you still entitled to your past year's bonus if you leave a month before they are distributed?

I agree. What does your contract say? In my experience, it you leave, you are out of luck because employers are only required to pay you your final wages. Bonuses are discretionary .. meaning the company can pick and choose who receives it. Now if ... more
