Any recommendations for home theater projector?

I want to install a home theater projector in my house. Does anyone have any recommendations or words of advice? I'm not loyal to any particular brand, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Unless you are going for a 12 seat, terraced 10,000 watt theater there is no reason to nuts with "$30,000 Runco projector and a $5,000 Crestron control system" especially given the quality of today's lower cost projectors and central control systems.

I built my theater in 2008 and I run a Panasonic AEU4000 that listed for $4,000 to $5,000 brand new. I bought mine off E-bay for $2,200 still in the box from a reputable dealer so look there first but do your research on both the projector and the dealer!

Screens are very inexpensive I picked up a new, remote controlled electric 110" drop down for $900. Screens get nuts on price if you buy one with the ceiling door kits ($2,800 and up) so I simply added a soffit and made a wooden cover that fits in the ceiling for mine that matches the room.

I manage all my equipment with a Logitech Harmony 1000 that cost about $600, I believe they are even less expensive today and are very easy to program and manage without help from a third party.

Some cool finishing items:

Sound deadening cloth on the walls from Goldcrest Wallcoverings in Albany NY but there are many vendors and the cost is minor compared to the improved sound.

Sperate walls and with an airgap since I have in wall speakers and two 500 watt subs, of course are on the floor.

Good luck!
