Are there any mobile apps that are useful for visitors and/or exhibitors at trade shows?

There are tons of mobile apps out there for exhibitors and attendees alike that allow you to view the trade show floor before getting to the event, forums to connect with other exhibitors and attendees, and to schedule meetings before the event. I wrote an article on a few of the mobile apps I felt were very helpful:

among others, I've seen a 'parking recall' app for Android, very useful for marking a location on the floor to get back to later. I've been to some trade shows in very large venues ( GA World Congress Center, McCormick, Vegas ) where I've walked miles, and wanted to go back to see specific vendor sites but just couldn't remember where they were.
To that end, a GPS app can do similar in geotracking mode.
Voice recording is great for making notes on the fly, and with voice recognition on Android 2.2 , possible have speech-to-text notes.

With the current level of technology in the area of connectivity, a VPN (Virtual Personal Network) or RDP (Remote Desktop Connection), a mobile device or netbook computer can establish a connection and actually run the applications on their home servers and work with "live data" files while on tour. In the case of sales of products while at a trade show or similar location, you can create orders that can be later confirmed and transferred into invoices back at your home location where the fulfill process will happen anyway.

My previous answer was primarily directed to exhibitors. This answer is more for the visitor. If the exhibitor planned ahead, they will have updated and populated their website with information and products being featured at this show. You should be able to use most mobile devices to access their website and see these products as well as information about the company and their booth number and location at the event. You should look for vendors that have done this for you.

I don't know about apps for trade shows, but text marketing and a mobile website could be used in several different ways at a trade show. Contest to get people to come by the booth, directions to the booth, drive people at the show to the website, mass text ads, coupons, specials, give aways, etc.

Yes, I can provide a touch-screen app for this. It also works with touch-screen PCs. Exhibitor or Planner supplies the content. Please contact me for details.
