As with any online business IPO there is always a risk. One need only look at Yahoo.com and Myspace.com to anticipate and put a face on that risk. Facebook as a social networking site subject to consumer preferences is a risky venture. Currently it is the flavor of the year but the true question you need to ask yourself is could a competitor come and provide a better more appealing experience than Facebook now provides its users. Consider the new entry into the social networking realm called Google +. In addition to competitors one needs to consider the massive move towards mobile devices such as iPhone and Android phones and iPads. Facebook does not translate really well to the iPhone and Android phone platforms. I hear this all the time from friends. If a social network can enter that space and provide a pallatable experience that is better than Facebook, then Facebook could end up on the trash heap of internet dreams.
