Basics of strategic cost management?
The economic downturn was a huge lesson in cost management for my organization. Moving forward, our executive team wants to do a 1 day online training course for the rest of our management professionals. We would want it to go over the basics of strategic cost management in hopes that they'll implement those practices in managing their own budgets. Where can I get an overview of the basics that could possibly be used in an online training course? Do you have any suggestions of topics or theories that should be covered in this type of setting?

The AICPA offers self study courses that might be an option. Another option is to check with your local community college. Many have manufacturing or business development extensions which can prove helpful. They may be already have a course or mighjt be able to develop a course tailored to your company at a reasonable cost.
You'll get maximum impact if your executive team kicks off the training and if you can use some real-world examples (perhaps the successes you've already had can be used).
