Collaboration is important for a number of reasons:
1. A group will think of more risks than an individual, especially if the group has a good mix of experience and expertise
2. The group will also be able to identify more actions to deal with the risks, either to prevent a risk or to mitigate its impact.
3. Involving the group in the risk management process increases team buy-in and responsibility.

However, collaboration can be difficult with teams who are dispersed, time-challenged or need a consistent framework. This is where a collaborative risk management tool can help. See www.riskreasoning.co.uk for an example of what I mean.
