IMHO, Blogging is an essential component of B2B marketing. As one person said, websites are static, but each blog post is like a new page being added. Frequent blogging, especially if you use your keywords is an essential part of a program to rank highly in search terms.

Our b2b marketing blog, Fearless Competitor, (http://www.fearlescompetitor.net) publishes at least 10 times a week and it is in national syndication. Because of our frequent updates, we rank on page one for all of our keywords.

Yes, blogging should be a part of everyone's strategy to build their brand. To get started you might want to create your own or weigh in on other blogs that are influencing your industry. Blogs are also important because search engines love them! You will become more visible on the worldwide web as a result. If you want to start your own blog, you might want to start with Wordpress or Blogger.

Yes, because it indicates some level of thought and human-ness beyond spec sheets and sanitary Case Studies. It can be a conversation, which is a good thing.

A resounding "YES!" from this side of the room.

In addition to the great reasons listed by other respondents, blogging is an excellent way to keep consistently in touch with your audience while providing them - if you're doing it properly - with a valuable resource that instills trust, builds credibility, and strengthens brand affinity. In short - it can be a big part of building the relationships that will evolve into business.

and last but hopefully not least...a very important feature of blogging is that it demonstrates your expertise in the industry and builds authority within your industry. This is how you attract your market by demonstrating your expertise. Every effort should go into building your readership and capturing your onsite followers using rss subscriptions and other incentives to collect data from that traffic. If you don't blogging may very well be a waste of your time. Sales will not happen by simply existing you have to capture them just like you do offline.
