Can an employee’s misprinted driver’s license get me in trouble?

I recently hired a new employee and didn't notice that the his middle initial on his driver’s license is R. His middle initial on his social security card is A. He says his WHOLE name is Thomas Ryan Avery Wright. When he was issued his driver’s license, he noticed the initials were different, but it cost $40 to get a new one reprinted. He decided not too and said no one's questioned him till now. I work for a transportation company and can be audited by DOT anytime. I am concerned this could be a problem in the future.
