Can I obtain a business license online?
Do I have to go to my local courthouse to get the license? Or can I obtain a business license online and if so, how secure is the process?

The short answer: Yes! The slightly longer answer: you should look at a number of the services that claim to offer business licenses online, ensure that they do so in the locale that matters to you, and then double-check with your local licensing bureau (and perhaps the local Better Business Bureau) to avoid any "gotchas" not made clear at the Web sites of your candidate vendors. Fees and regulatory requirements vary considerably -- caveat emptor!
Keep in mind that business licenses are a tax collection tool. Once you are on the list, you will be asked to contribute on a regular basis.
