Can Twitter compete with Facebooks new additions? Is the Twitter trend going to fade out?
With the new additions that facebook added. How can twitter compete? I don't know many companies that make a lot of revenue from twitter, so is the twitter trend going to fade out?

Even though Facebook added new additions. I don't think one will bounce the other. I read a great article yesterday morning in the New York Times about this and they sum it up very well.

Twitter isn't just a marketing tool for businesses these days. Its still a social networking site. It allows average people to discuss everyday topics with people outside of their respected network, so I don't see Twitter ever fading out. Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook will be around for years to come.
Twitter and Facebooks, I think, have two distinctly different audiences. Here are my thoughts.
1. Twitter updates much easier than Facebook because it is designed for a mobile device. From the start, Twitter seemed destined for smart phone updates Facebook needs 3rd party applications to do that and may have missed the market by keeping their mail API so closed for so long. Also Facebook is more web page centric because it depends upon games and photos to keep users coming back over and over.
2. Twitter is like a kernel operating system. Only the most essential features are present. For example, it takes the 1st character in the message as a clue on how it should be sent, e.g. D = Direct message RT= retweet, etc. One of the most important features of any application is its ability to search. The Twitter search capability far outstrips the Facebook one. Also, Twitter seems to behave equally well with smart phone versions while the Facebook mobile is wholly crude and simple and loses all of the other benefits previously cited as value added propositions for Facebook.
3. Lastly, you can be a bit more anonymous with Twitter and in this environment where posts from the past can haunt you, I think this is a valuable feature. It is a feature I hope that Twitter can retain because this is a big advantage over Facebook.
Hope this helps.
