Is cloud ERP set to dominate on-premise?

Do you agree with the premise of this report: http://bit.ly/lFm5MX. Basically, it says:

"It may only make up around 2% of the market at the moment, but Cloud-based ERP is set to grow by about 21% annually through 2015, according to research firm Forrester."

21% year on year right - so that 2% will be 2.4% next year?
If that's the maths then yes, that is a reasonably modest projection. I see they only project Cloud to be 4% of total ERP footprint by 2015 - personally I'd predict higher than that...

Yes, the small base allows for much higher growth. I do think some of this depends on the definition of ERP.

Yes that may happen due to slick sales people driven by commission. Should it happen - NO - If you want an accounting system by there are cheaper options! Want to control income and expenditure buy a people support driven system where key features include user friendliness, flexibility in the software for change, transparency in the system removing software mystery and real time feed back on activity - all the key missing ingredients of ERP at a fraction of the cost. Whether in the cloud or not a financial issue not a technology one?
See an example a step change in Business Technology http://bit.ly/f7tcOm The 3rd alternative to COTS and custom build. It is the real future ERP belongs in the past ...?

If we keep having the Sony and Amazon issues (remember perception is reality and the Sony issue is a much bigger problem than Amazon, though I think the Cloud took a bigger hit with it) then the projection might be a bit off...
