Do you think it's a wise move for Mark Zuckerberg to be so visible on Google+?
What do you think about the Facebook CEO's activity on Google+?

I don't see anything bad about it, particularly. It demonstrates lack of fear of the competition, a willingness to learn from them, and a certain je ne sais quoi that I like.
Google gets to either accept him (which means he remains there as a visible reminder of the 1000 pound Gorilla competitor) or ban him, which would be totally fabulous PR for Zuckerberg.
In fact, the more I think about it, the smarter a move I think it is!
Postscript: I just added him to my circles and I see he has 337698 followers in Google+. It's moved on to a brilliant move in my mind!
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer
If he could learn and observe what users like and then immediately implement it on facebook then it is a good thing. Google tends to have great ideas but don't broadly and quickly market them.
Makes me think of the CEO of Coca Cola drinking a Pepsi at a press conference. It's like endorsing his competition and showing Facebook users how cool and cutting edge Google + is. He may be showing that he has no fear, that he can learn from the competition and that he is above it all, but that is ego, and not the point.
Helping Facebook users see the benefits of a second platform can do nothing to make Facebook more successful and is a classic Facebook arrogance-driven misstep.
My initial gut reaction is to click the “dislike” button I’ve always wanted but Facebook never provided!
I tried to imagine some strategic advantage that could be gained from this but couldn’t think of any. Instead I kept coming up with brand-blurring strategic missteps that appear to be happening instead.
On the other hand, Google’s “capacity problem” is either the most opportune capacity planning issue ever, or a brilliant strategy. Making people wait builds up demand and when the gates open, the rapid adoption will likely create a “wave” network effect that siphons off the remaining users from other platforms effectively making everyone early adopters. Without this pause, they may have arrived at equilibrium where some straddle both platforms and some stay at the old platform. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this but if it works it’ll be amazing. This will rank up there with the Coca-Cola reformulation debacle for sure.
I think the Facebook team needs to stop hanging out at Google+ and start thinking of ways to accelerate that IPO. This could be all done and over by Jan 2012...
You know Paula; I agree that it has a sort of visceral “coolness” that he’s not afraid of his new competitor. However, I’m more concerned about the other types of messages and confusion it could generate.
If Mark is the face of Facebook, and he’s over playing on Google+, I think that sends the message that Facebook users should do the same. However, I don’t think most people will straddle Facebook and Google+. People didn’t straddle Facebook and Myspace, they migrated.
Further, Facebook’s revenue is based largely on the fact that people go there and spend lots of time there. As the users go, so goes the revenue.
Finally, I think Google+ may be revealing the uncomfortable fact that people flocked to and remained at Facebook not out of brand loyalty but because there were no suitable alternatives. This is a huge problem for a company barreling towards an IPO.
I personally would prefer to see the Facebook team releasing features and offering incentives to stay. It seems to me that differentiation and value proposition are the only ways to build brand loyalty in a market like free internet services.
Sure why not... he has for the most part been on the edge with Facebook. He might just be wanting to show that he is not feeling threatened by this or maybe he is. Hmmmmm??
best as i can tell from looking at his + profile, he is not active there. sure, he has a lot of followers from people who think they will be able to engage him...
now, if he were active and engaging people on Google+? then, that would be interesting to talk about...
Zuck'a'bird is just a wormy little bastard anyway... it doesn't make any difference what he does... as soon as all the social networking rambling thought processing wind's down and becomes more of a nuisance it will belly up... He has had a good run but it will eventually die and be replaced with something better... everything always does... depending on how you describe just what is is anyway...
Hollow Log beating was replaced by dried animal skins tied over one end of the hollow log which was replaced by smoke signals which was replaced by telegraph which was replaced by wireless voice etc... It doesn't make since why we have regressed back to the same culture as the cave dwellers with their crude cave drawings... Text Messaging and driving has caused more deaths and life threatening injuries than inebriated driving... I don't remember if anything replaced Hula Hoops because I think it just died a natural death... Just like Microsoft will and eventually Apple.... does anybody really care…
I think someone like Mr. Zuckerberg is merely on Google+ to extract any piece of the network that he can incorporate into Facebook. I am not so sure that this product from Google will cause a migration from Facebook like Facebook did to MySpace. Maybe if Google+ had emerged shortly after Facebook, before people had their whole lives wired in through Facebook then maybe it would affect the user count, as it stands right now I think people will try it out but I don't think it will be a rapid abandon ship from Facebook users.
In my point of view we can learn more from our enemies Because we already knows strong points and weak points of our friends .I think everybody should have to learn from enemies .Adopt this habit it will be really helpful for you and your business.
