ERP, MRP: What's the difference?

We are a small manufacturing company and we are trying to understand whether we need an ERP or an MRP? What really is the difference? Is MRP included in most ERP systems?

To be very brief and to the point MRP is an integrated part of ERP.the difference MRP-Only does the Material requirement planning from the prefed data where as the ERP takes care of MRP ,Production Planning, CRM,Supply chain Mgmt, Caters all departments like purchase, sales, store, accounts, Hr, Payroll,Fixed asset Management and many more.
So analyse what are your priorities and then go for the solution accordingly

Hello Brendon,

ERP is the integration of all the enterprise functions be it CRM,MRP,SCM...where as MRP is concerned with material management only and extensively used by manufacturing firms.
