Good starting point for researching business formation laws & policies?

What website is a good starting point for researching business formation laws and policies in the state of Texas? I am going to start a company in Texas within the next couple years and am looking for a good starting point for my search. Are there any business formation organizations that I should be aware of? Where is a good place to start researching this kind of thing?

http://www.texasonline.com/portal/tol/en/bus/home is a portal to information for doing business within the State of Texas.

You should be able to find links to requirements, information on Business Structures, Taxes, Forms, Licenses, Permits, even financial assistance information in starting a business.

This is a good place to start. There are a lot of resources at the Federal Level too. http://www.sba.gov/ is another place with good resources. Even the IRS website has useful information. Just make sure you are consulting a good Attorney and Accountant during the process.

If you build a solid foundation (business structure) it should maximize tax benefits, protect you from liability (especially personal), etc.... I would even think of getting an Employer ID Number and other basics now. However, check with an attorney and accountant to see what this could potentially do to limit you in the future or create unneeded expenses now.

Find and start building your "team" now. Attorney, Accountant, Banker, etc.... If they are good, they will save you much more money than they will cost you.
