Hiring Managers: do you still care about cover letters? Why/Why not?
Seems like we're all going at hyper-speed these days, so as a hiring manager, do you still have time to read cover letters? Do you find cover letters to be compelling evidence of a candidate's suitability for a job? If yes, how should job seekers compose cover letters to convey their suitability for the jobs they're applying for?

If you are going to use one, make sure you are short and to the point!!

I do appreciate cover letters because they somehow reveal a lot in the way the candidates thinks about his/her suitability, motivations, ... It also gives an idea of the "style" of the candidate. I believe a good cover letter should contain: a short bio of the candidate, an introduction to the candidates ambitions and motivations, his/her understanding of the job/challenge with reference to his/her strenghts and relevant experiences.
I require cover letters and tell candidates exactly what I want them to tell me in the letter.
This is a test to see if they actually read my ad and give me what I requested.
Makes for easy screening.
