How can I network with social group websites to generate business?

I am a home-based travel agent, and, I am looking to mentor anyone who wants to join my company, travel and earn while they learn, and have tremendous fun doing it. I know that social networks will expose me to possible millions of persons. This is how I am going to proceed:Wishing that there was a company picnic, or that it could be more eventful? Want to be the host for the family reunion, but, don't want to cook, clean, or have your home trampled in? Book a group cruise and for every 15 cabins, get one free, which you can use. The commissions can be $12k or more, just for one trip! Become a certified travel agent today at....

Your pitch is good enough, but I'm curious about how you plan to insert this into a social networking scenario. Yes, you can post ads on some sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.), but I think what you're looking to do isn't ad posting. You want to network with other people to grow your business, and that's different than posting ads.

You seem to be confused with what social networking is and its place in the marketing mix. It is an outlet for growing a community of like-minded people, and requires a long-term view to grow business. Building a community - this is the purpose of social networking - is different that selling something. It's about connecting and helping people with THEIR needs, not your own.

So, here are my suggestions for how you could go about this, assuming you decide to go forward with a social networking approach.
1. Join LinkedIn, then sign up for groups that have common interests to yours. Make useful comments on discussions in those groups without mentioning your pitch. Ask questions about topics you need answers to.
2. Do the same on Facebook. Remember, useful comments WITHOUT mentioning your pitch. You might be able to add a URL link along with these comments, but I would not recommend it; at least, not at first.
3. Keep current on THIS site. It seems to have a lot of helpful information. I first became aware of it through the LinkedIn group, and after two years, I'm finally on the site. I should have tried to help sooner.
4. If you have the time and patients, try Twitter. Post helpful tips about travel, but not trying to sell or get people to sign up for your program. People will want to join you as the begin to TRUST you first.

Just remember that social networking is NOT about business pitches; it's about building relationships of trust.

Where to begin...where to begin? Your site is up and running, but I'm curious: what kinds of hits are you getting? How many a day? If the answer is very small, you definitely need to market your services better. I would sign up for a Google Adsense account so you can take advantage of their ad network. They'll put up relative content links to and from your site. It's a start at least, and it's the cheapest one - it's FREE to set up. See how much money you make; that'll tell you how many people have been coming to your site. Try that and see how it works before you do anything else.
