Hi David, do you want to move people cross platform or within the same app?
On Twitter you can just rename you username but if you're talking about moving people from a personal facebook profile to a FB fan page then thats always been tricky.
You could offer a competition to incentivize the move.
Let me know a few more details perhaps and I'll my best to offer some advice

That's an interesting question, David, because my domains were stolen and I had to start over. And I switched Twitter from my name to my brand.
With the domains, you can do a 301 redirect, if you have access to the domain at GoDaddy or whatever service you use. As for Twitter, there is no magic. Just start using the new one and occasionally post to the old one to redirect everyone.
