Prakash, Two thought leaders in the "Effective PowerPoint" arena are Guy Kawasaki and Garr Reynolds, and one that is most studied and written about might be Steve Jobs.
Guy Kawasaki wrote a post about his recommendations back in 2005 that still work now:

Garr Reynolds wrote a highly recommended book titled: "Presentation Zen" and a popular blog by the same name at: http://www.presentationzen.com/
I also recommend a book titled: The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs" written by Carmine Gallo. Carmine has coached Steve for some time during his career and has seen one of the masters up close and behind the scenes.
Hope this gets you started.
Can you be a little more specific? I think I can probably help, I am pretty fluent with Microsoft Office. Kimberly
