How do C-Level executive find a professional services firm?
I'm trying to determine how C-level executives find an architect, general contractor or construction management firm when they are ready to build a new building. Do they seek referrals from their banker or lawyer, do they go to the internet or local phone book or do they ask someone within their industry?
How do we become more visable?

Referrals are a very strong source. If you know other c-level decision makers that have pursued similar projects, I would seek them out and ask their feedback. You can learn from their successes and their mistakes, and you can also identify top candidates for your job based on who they did or did not select. Often, business associations in a particular industry will have referral networks set up on a geographic basis, and they might be able to shed some light. While Internet search is good, and yellow pages listings can provide ideas, keep in mind that anyone with a budget and a good Web services or advertising agency can produce websites or colorful ads. If you do rely on Internet search, I suggest looking for contractors that are sanctioned by the Better Business Bureau and have won awards in their particular industry.
