Dear Sarah,

Perhaps you can partner with someone who writes copy and is looking to build experience and connections in your community. You may also be able to connect with a local university and create a project for a student that will help them with their major as well. You may also consider creating content on social networking sites or a blog where you can share quick ideas that don't require long writing assignments.

Take care,

Guy

Would you dress for an important presentation on a shoe-string budget? Probably not, so why create marketing information that way?

Depending on the type of content you're looking for and the reason you're looking, some of may be able to help. Can you give more details?

One of the best ways to get bang for your buck is to re-purpose existing content into different formats and make sure any new content is maximized into as many formats as possible. White papers can become ebooks, serialized podcasts, slideshares, blog articles, tips documents, etc.

Lee Anne hits it on the head: Re-purpose. It's one of the greatest things in content marketing today. When people ask to re-purpose my materials, I just need to understand "how" they are going to use it and say "yes". Re-purposing works for both sides: the author of the content gets a platform to deliver their content and you, get great content without having to have something write it for you. Another thing to do is to reach out to experts or others in the blogosphere and ask them to contribute to an ebook, etc. They will say yes and not charge you.

It depends on the content. Not all marketing content is the same. Writing feature-benefit, type documents may be ok to outsource to a starving freelance writer. Just toss the raw speeds&feeds from product mgt to them and watch them go. But if you are talking about high visibility web content, or the core content for a demand gen campaign (like email or banners), I'd be careful not to be penny wise and pound foolish. In the overall scheme of things you can hire a boutique creative shop for a reasonable fee to deliver crisp and clutter-busting language to fuel your campaigns. The market is littered with marketing materials that reads like tax code. My advise, save money elsewhere, not in writing.

You can use a service (free) like Ezine Articles or Idea Marketing has articles, too. Those are the top article banks IMO. For more info www.ArticleBanks.com

You can also send a notice out, on Haro or Pitchrate.com that you're looking for guest bloggers. I give business owners an OK to use my articles all the time (with my bio and link to my website of course)

You can also ask your clients to write articles for you. Articles don't have to be books; 500+ words will do it.
