Business has been tough for some of us during these rough economic times. As an IT Consultant sometimes its on us to make ourselves available to the public. How do your clients find you? What steps do you take to make yourself available?

Hi Mike
Adopt newer Technologies wherein in a meeting with any of your existing you will able to find pain points in each & every area of IT Infrastructurer & Services.
This will help you increase oppourtinites at the same client.
No need of findling new clients & running after them, establish relatioship & wait for the oppourtinity.
This will also help you to upscale you from a Vedor to Business Partner with the Client depending on the nautre of your SLA's.

I've seen a number of IT consultancies outsource their lead generation as well as adopt social media for demonstrating their expertise in their field.

Thanks for responding to my question and giving your input. I definitely agree that we need to concentrate on our customers right now, but I must admit that that number is low. Do you guys know of any other IT forums or message boards that I can take a look at? Seems like LinkedIn is having a problem with too much self promotion lately and I don't want to contribute to the madness.

We found a PR consultant who was willing to trade her services for ours...maybe we were lucky, but she helped to boost our public footprint in our local area, both our B2B and retail customer sales have increased.
