How does a service business use Pinterest to find new customers or blog traffic?

I'm in marketing, so I don't have a lot of visual things to share on Pinterest. What's the best way to use it to engage potential clients and blog readers?

You can add a Pin It option to your blog or page. This Kalamazoo, Michigan blogger got 2,000 hits pinning recipes and weight-loss photos from her blog to her Pinterest account.

Caitlin--
As I said, I'm in marketing, so what would they pin? I use stock photos on my blog. Nothing exciting.

Can you send me a link to your blog?

Hi Susan,

I'm sure you'll get an answer this afternoon, but I actually just wrote a blog post covering this topic. It's possible that they'll disagree with my position, but I believe that if you don't have a visual product or at least something with compelling "how-to" guides. Pinterest is probably not going to be worth the time and energy that you put into it.

I have some more thoughts laid out here if you're interested in reading further http://andydebrunner.com/pinterest-for-business/

Andy--
Great answer. But judging from your post, sounds like I can't use Pinterest? I'm not buying it. I just haven't figured it out.

Thanks Susan,

I am not trying to make the blanket statement that any particular medium isn't appropriate for a given type of business, however Pinterest is best-suited to businesses with visually intriguing products. What I'm suggesting is that unless you get really creative with how you use the site, there are probably other ways to spend your time/money that will generate better results. Out of curiosity, what's your blog URL? I'd like to check it out.

I love your site. Do your downloadable courses sell well? I've never seen that before but I think it's a great idea.

I do, but they're not very image rich right now.
