How many companies have gone back to Behavioral Interviews and why?

Would you consider your company a large, medium or small size company? Have the behavioral interviews been implemented at the corporate level and mandatory or is each Division given some leeway in utilizing? Why did your company switch to Behavioral Interviewing? Who selects and analyzes the responses? Are there ever any questions that are “thrown out” as a result of the answers being evaluated? What is your opinion on this format of interviewing as an HR professional, and as an applicant?

Research indicates that Behavioral Based Interviewing is the best predictor of performance on the job. You get a lot about a person's ability to problem solve and what they actually have experienced vs. how they would or could handle something hypothetical. I'd have to say that my personal experience is reflective of the research out there.

Melanie, I concur with Audrey's comments but would also suggest that you add testing to the mix, you always get a better result when you combine art and science.
I've used behavioral interviewing for the last 10 years and work with HR departments to initiate the process. To effectively interview using this technique, you need to understand how to drill down on specific issues, that requires experience and skill.
Normally when I work with clients on implementing this approach, we begin by identifying the core competencies that are necessary to be successful in the job. Many individuals believe that behavioral interviewing is nothing more than asking the Tell me about a time.....question, that's a very small part of the process. The goal is to carefully listen to what's being said so that you can formulate your next question and zero in on a point the interviewer made. We have to remember that a good interviewer can use this process to their advantage and lie their way through the entire process. Once you've mastered the technique it becomes more difficult to work around the process.
Testing of course is to help you with cultural fit.
