How many of you send gifts to clients during the holidays?
What do you do for a client that works for a company that has a "no gift" policy?

I do send gifts to my clients during the holidays. Often it is a big cookie and muffin basket that I put together myself. This is usually ok in all businesses because I bring it for the "business" not the "client."
I sometimes drop off a business book that my client can use to improve their skills. This, too seems to create no problems.
In the past, we did give gifts to clients but it became problematic due to many company's policies regarding gratuities. Laurie's idea about a big cookie or muffins is a good one for the smaller clients but frequently don't get noticed by the right people in the larger organizations.
For a different reason, we stopped sending Christmas cards. It was often the case where we would like to reach 20 or more individuals in any given client and the time/expense became prohibitive. The cards sent to "the company" got hung in the lobby and then thrown in the trash so individuals tended to not see them.
What we did begin a few years ago was sending New Years cards in late January. These cards got read much more often and didn't get lost in the mix with all the other cards around Christmas.
Can you take them to lunch instead maybe?
