How much does social media play a role in your decisions to purchase items for your business?
How much about what other people discuss on social media influences you to purchase one item over another? I have noticed that people just promote their company/product, so how much truth do you put in to what people say?

Lindsey,
I am cautious regarding what a company says directly about its' own goods or services and find it increasingly difficult to differientiate between competing products and services -- everyone seems to be saying the same things. I do however place a greater degree of trust in what others say about someone's products or services. Unsolilicited testimonials have meaning for me.
ZERO!
People speaking on social media sites won't make me like or dislike a product, but their blog posts and reviews on their websites might sway me. Social media is a great tool to find rare material that can't be found easily on search engines. So all in all, I would say that social media itself has little impact on my decisions, but social media allows me to find insightful reviews that would be useful for my final decision.
