How much to spend for a decent overhead projector for mobile business use?
I haven't had to buy a projector in a while. With all the variations out there, a few pointers might help. I don't want to spend a fortune...
My needs...
1. Portable so I can drag it to client meeting and seminar presentations
2. Mostly used for PowerPoint
3. Needs to be fairly bright as I'm likely to be in somewhat lighted rooms
4. priced under $ 700 hopefully.
Questions...
1. Does the type of technology matter, DLP, or just the size that can be accommodated?
2. Is there a price where the units are only adding "extras" not base line functionality
3. Any favorite brands?

I just got me a new projector that fits most ot the criteria except number 4. priced under $700. It's USB compatibility make it a dream to be able to set up. This particular one is by Epson and they have a variety of projectors that are built for portability and though light in weight, they have a lumens range that offer good lighting.
We use mostly InFocus projectors for sales and marketing. They're fantastic. They probably start at around $700 though and go up to $1200+. Check out the selection at CDW - http://www.cdw.com.
There are three types of projector you can get and price varies according to function. They fall briefly into the following categories;
Full sized - these are good for halls, large meeting rooms. They are very bright and do everything. They got for over one thousand new. They are the bulk of a laptop (different form factor similar size and weight)
Mini-projectors. These are smaller, lower power projectors. They are small enough to slip into a laptop bag and good for using in sales-type rooms where there are less than ten people who need to see a presentation from your machinery. They are not as bright, but extremely portable. They seem to go for around $500-$600.
Micro-projectors. These are usb-powered and are suitable for very small projections. They can slip into a back pocket and they can be used to project a presentation to a close-up audience from a phone or a laptop. Not very bright, but extremely handy and very cool. Priced around $300.
We have bought mini-projectors from Dell and found them extremely good.
