How often should I be updating my social media sites?

I try to update them at least once a day, but should I do it every couple hours? Every hour? Is this something that I need to hire someone to monitor?

Hi Jessica,

I suggest that what you say on your social media sites is more important than how often you say it. Of course pro-actively managing your online reputation, messages and network of friends on a daily basis is always a good idea, however, if you are the only content provider you will find that the task can be overwhelming -- outsourced to someone else or not.

I would rather advise you to start building a fan base that links relevant posts from you and yours to them and theirs -- and vice versa - to create a viral dynamic driving shared friends -- and content -- back to your reciprocal online communities of friends. One well placed comment on articles posted on well trafficked social networking sites that you contribute to that your shared friends will find interesting linked back to your sites with the same expectations will provide automatically changing content hourly vs. daily.

Why write a complete article posted only on your own sites when your relevant comment on an article that someone else wrote and posted on their sites -- linked back to you as the source -- will drive changing comments and added friends back to you for a fraction of your time and effort?

After all, what are friends and reciprocal links to their social networking sites for!
