How would you define a "fast follower"?
I was just reading Paul Greenberg's article on Oracle OpenWorld and he talks about how Oracle CRM calls themselves "fast followers": I have heard this now more than ever, what is your description of the term?

Craig,
I think Paul nails the definition in his article. A fast follower is a business strategy in which a company closely monitors what products/services disruptive companies in their space introduce, and then the moment these innovations begin to take root, release their own better/cheaper/faster version. This strategy can also be executed at the messaging level.
What's remarkable about Oracle's "fast following" is the company's size. A core requirement of this strategy is nimbleness. If you are going to draft off of disruption and accelerate beyond other organizations' innovation, then your company needs to be fluid enough to adapt in real time. Given Oracle's size, it's impressive that they could execute against this strategy.
